We're on the move!

It was in the 1990s that the members of Bethel Church first started to think about enlarging the complex on Green Lane. After many years of looking at options, considering our needs, trying to get a suitable design, starting a Building Fund, we are, at last, able to start the work.
The existing church complex was partially built in 1936, and partially in 1970. While the 1936 part of the building (the large hall at the rear of the site) still meets our needs, the more modern part which fronts on to Green Lane needs to be enlarged and updated. Some of the departments of the church struggle for space. On many Sunday mornings, the church is literally overflowing, with people sometimes having to wait for the Sunday School to leave the service so that they can have a seat. And age is showing! The toilets in particular need to be refurbished and a new disabled toilet provided. The work we need to carry out is part extension, part refurbishment and part improvement. All together it makes a significant package of building work... and it’s about to begin.

The first shovelful of earth is dug!
