The Roof Is On!!

Well, after the nasty December weather and consequent delays it's good to be able to say that the roof is finally finished. The windows, frames and shutters will be installed  soon and its then full steam ahead on the inside. At the moment things are still on track to move back sometime in May.

God has really been good to us over the last few months as we have travelled from place to place. We're settling in well at Roscoe School in Ballantyne Road for our Sunday morning service and West Derby Evangelical Church is like a second home. We're so grateful for God's provision in this and so many other ways. Why not come along one Sunday and join us?

Bethel on the road

On 13th September 2010, the builders moved in and started to demolish parts of the building, before rebuilding a bigger church. After some unavoidable delays due to the bad weather, we hope to be back in Green Lane in May 2011.   We are extremely grateful to West Derby Evangelical Church in West Derby Village. for allowing us to use their building for our Sunday evening services, YPF on Tuesdays, Girls' Brigade on Thursdays & Youth Club on Saturdays. As well as that, our Sunday morning services are being held at 10.45am in Roscoe School, Ballantyne Road, as is the Searchers group on Monday evenings. Toddler Group meet in Lister School, Green Lane and the Thursday Ladies Fellowship meet in New Road City Mission Church. The Boys' Brigade now meet on Fridays at Cornerstone Centre, Eaton Road North.
This website will keep you up to date with how things are progressing. Why not pop in to our “temporary home” one Sunday and find out at first hand how the project is getting along? If you'd like to see photos of the building work in progress have a look at our Facebook site "Bethel Church Growth Project".

We're on the move!

It was in the 1990s that the members of Bethel Church first started to think about enlarging the complex on Green Lane. After many years of looking at options, considering our needs, trying to get a suitable design, starting a Building Fund, we are, at last, able to start the work.
The existing church complex was partially built in 1936, and partially in 1970. While the 1936 part of the building (the large hall at the rear of the site) still meets our needs, the more modern part which fronts on to Green Lane needs to be enlarged and updated. Some of the departments of the church struggle for space. On many Sunday mornings, the church is literally overflowing, with people sometimes having to wait for the Sunday School to leave the service so that they can have a seat. And age is showing! The toilets in particular need to be refurbished and a new disabled toilet provided. The work we need to carry out is part extension, part refurbishment and part improvement. All together it makes a significant package of building work... and it’s about to begin.

The first shovelful of earth is dug!
